Aquatech Amsterdam 2019

Finnish companies and co-operation organizations participated in the Aquatech Amsterdam water trade fair in November 2019. Aquatech Amsterdam is the largest water industry event in Europe and attracted more than 25,000 visitors and more than 1,000 exhibitors. The Finnish Pavilion was centrally located and the companies gained visibility and established valuable contacts also at side meetings held during the fair.

Finland had a country pavilion at Aquatech, organized by Lavango Oy, which introduced six Finnish companies and three co-operation organizations. The participating companies were Buildie, KL-Lämpö, Owatec, Sensmet, Waterix and Viimatech, as well as the Kuopio Water Cluster, Miksein EcoSairila and AIF Water Ecosystem. Two Finnish companies participated in the fair with their own exhibition stands.

The Aquatech trade fair is considered to be an event focusing on water technology, a very important meeting and showcase place for the launch of export markets in Europe and also worldwide. “If you want to be involved in water exports, you have to participate in Aquatech,” said Jussi Aaltonen from KL-Lämmö. The Finnish pavilion was right next to the Dutch country pavilion. This ensured good visibility and a constant flow of visitors throughout the fair. “The stand was in a good location and all the arrangements worked well. The Finnish pavilion for several companies is a good way to participate in trade fairs. Last time, our own department did not generate as much traffic, ”continued Antti Nygren from KL-Lämmö.

The Finnish pavilion presented highly valued Finnish water expertise. The participating companies represented the different stages of the water treatment process and complemented each other well. The companies were in various stages of internationalization, some are already doing export trade and some are starting to export. All the companies achieved their goals set for the fair and received confirmation of their export trade. Eero Vento also visited the Finnish Pavilion at the Embassy of Finland in the Netherlands, according to which all Finnish companies involved have good opportunities in the Netherlands.

The fair lasted four days and for companies in the growth phase, participation is challenging. With all its arrangements and furnishing the exhibition stand, a good, visible place is a great effort and risk for an individual company. Therefore, the joint Finnish Pavillion was felt as a very good way to participate in the fair. “Aquatech Amsterdam was the first foreign trade fair that Buildie attended. We found a potential partner that we would not have found using other routes. Without the Finnish Pavilion, we would not have gone international. This was a good start to a low threshold for participation in the fair, ”said Taneli Ristmeri from Buildie.
